It was difficult to converse over the thundering roar of the waterfall. As the stream cascaded down the hill and into the river below, the three of them shouted at each other until they were all hoarse. The words were as good as underwater; none of them had heard anything. Even if they had, the words themselves were empty. None of the three spoke what was truly on their minds. After all, they were mafia scum, masters of manipulation and deception. Their loyalties to each other were not enough to break well-ingrained habits.
Up above them, past the rocky cliff, church bells marked the dawn. Distant crowing accompanied the rhythmic clangs of the death knells of the night. Already, there were townspeople milling about, getting ready for the morning. It was the perfect picture of an idyllic rural town, one that had always relied on itself for its daily sustenance. The notion that the mafia occupied this peaceful place was an odd one, yet nobody had ever bothered to question it. It was simply an accepted fact.
The sun rose on yet another day. Everyone would rise, and then they would do what they needed to do to survive. They would pay no heed to the dead man in the crevice behind the waterfall, shot to death because he wouldn't agree to a hostile takeover of the town. They would avoid gazing at the two figures walking back toward the town square, each holding a smoking gun.
Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Use of homophobic, racist, sexist, or any other derogatory slurs falls under this rule. Keep it civil.

Activity
You should aim for at least one post per 48 hours to keep the game moving.
Prods will be issued to players if they have not posted within a 72-hour period. I will also prod on request as long as at least 48 hours have passed since the player's last post.
A player who has been prodded has 48 hours to respond to the prod. If I do not receive a response, I will seek a replacement. If the player responds and is still interested in playing, and I have not yet found a replacement, the player may continue to play.
Players who have been prodded 3 times are subject to replacement without further notice. Player-requested prods do not count toward this total.
If you anticipate being away for at least 48 hours, please PM me or post a V/LA notice in the thread with the expected date of your return.
Day
Days have a fixed duration of 3 weeks. Deadline extensions will be granted only in extreme circumstances.
Lynches occur through simple majority (50% of living players + 1, rounded down). If no majority is reached at deadline or there is a majority of votes for No Lynch, the day will end without a lynch.
Votes must be on a separate line, flushed left, and bolded (e.g.,
Vote: Equinox
). The same applies to vote revocations (e.g.,
Unvote
). Unvotes are preferred but not necessary when switching votes (e.g.,
Unvote, Vote: Equinox
). Use of the vote tags (e.g., VOTE: Equinox) is optional.
Once majority is reached, no further votes or unvotes will count.
All players, including the lynched player, are allowed to discuss in twilight phase until I post the death scene.
Dead players may make one "Bah!" post that contains no game-related content.
Night
Nights will last 72 hours.
If I do not receive your action by deadline, your action is forfeited. You may submit ahead of time; you can also make as many changes as necessary, and at deadline I will take the last action you submitted.
For
all
replacements that take place during this phase, I will extend deadline by 24 hours.
Moderator Actions
Flavor is for entertainment purposes only and has no significance in the game.
Vote counts will be posted once per page or once per 24 hours, depending on activity level.
If there is an error in the vote count or something similar, please bold your concern in the thread (e.g.,

). Please PM me for all other issues.
Violations of these rules will result in consequences. Pretending to violate these rules will also result in consequences. What those consequences are depend on the severity of the action and on the game state.
In the event of a modkill, the player's role will be changed to

Every night, you may choose one person to distract. Any night actions taken by your target will be nullified. You will not be informed whether or not your action is successful. You may not target your partner.
Mafia Abilities:
Every night, you and your partner may discuss in this QuickTopic, and you may choose one person to eliminate. If your partner dies at any point, you will still be able to submit a kill. You may not target yourself or your partner. Additionally, as a citizen of the town, you have the right to vote.
Win Condition:
You win when the number of mafia equals or exceeds the number of remaining town players or when nothing can prevent such an occurrence.
Every night, you and your partner may discuss in this QuickTopic, and you may choose one person to eliminate. If your partner is a mafia roleblocker and you die at any point, your partner will still be able to submit a kill. You may not target yourself or your partner. Additionally, as a citizen of the town, you have the right to vote.
Win Condition:
You win when the number of mafia equals or exceeds the number of remaining town players or when nothing can prevent such an occurrence.
Every night, you may choose one person to investigate. At dawn, you will receive the results in the form of "Innocent" or "Guilty"; however, if your investigation was unsuccessful, you will receive "No Result." Results are guaranteed to be accurate (i.e., no sanity issues).
Town Abilities:
As a citizen of the town, you have the right to vote.
Win Condition:
You win when all threats to the town have been eliminated.
Every night, you may choose one person to protect. If the mafia attempt to kill your target, your target will survive and no kill will occur. You will not be informed whether or not your action is successful. You may not target yourself. Targets are guaranteed to be accurate (i.e., no sanity issues).
