Voting, Elimination, and Deadlines:

19. As with any mafia game, you can vote for a player to get them eliminated, you can vote for a No Elimination, or you can not vote at all.
20. Votes to eliminate must use the bold tags or the vote tags, like this: VOTE: X or this:

21. An elimination requires a majority (over 50%) vote. For example, when there are 13 players alive, it will take 7 votes to eliminate, because that is the smallest number over 50% of the number of players. A no elimination only requires 50% of votes.
22. Day 1 has a deadline of 10 days and subsequent days will have a deadline of 8 days. Nights will take 48 hours
23. When an elimination is reached or deadline expires, I will lock the thread and start the Night phase as soon as I can. You are allowed to post before I do this, if you want.

Prodding and Activity:

24. If a player fails to post for 36 consecutive hours, they will be prodded. If that player does not post for another 36 hours after they've been prodded, they'll be replaced. the time allowed before a prod is extended to 48 hours during the Weekend
25. Gathering 4 or more prods in 2 consecutive days will start a replacement search for your slot due to inactivity, you may cancel it by resuming posting
26. If you are going away, or if you have limited access to the site, notify me by pm or in-topic so that I know not to prod or replace you. The maximum amount of time you may go without posting due to V/LA is 96 hours (four days).

you know these video essays on youtube that talk about something for an unreasonable amount of time? Well i do, i watch one every time i'm having lunch actually, and this all makes me think, because i'm somewhat of a thinker, and there's this show i'm watching, or like, waiting for new episodes to come out, Murder Drones, it's an indie animation stuff, made by the same studio that did the digital circus, and like... it sucks? I also love it, and it could be so much more and it has so many pitfalls it runs straight into and ok looks like i've lost everyone, let's do this from the start...

So, murder drones? Basically there's this guy, Liam Vickers, he makes animations as a hobby, even that he's pretty good at it (at least as good as an independant animator without funding or any structure can reasonably do i think) he's got a style of doing dark comedies with morally ambiguous women, and like that's pretty cool

meanwhile there's this studio, glitch productions, they're a support structure for indie animators and overall want this medium to be more represented and appreciated, on top of that their main show ended just recently ! hmmmm, i wonder how those two events might be connected (clueless)

fast foward 2022, murder drones is announced ! it's supposed to be a dark comedy with morally ambiguous women (still cool) that will be running for 8 episodes of roughly 20-25 minutes, which is already quite a lot of runtime for 3d animation apparently (don't quote me on that i don't know what a blender is expect the thing you use for cooking stuff)

specifically, remember that the main plot is uzi (main character) fighting off murder robots sent by the human species because uzi and everyone on her planet are AIs that went rogue and so death is the only answer to this technical issue or something like that, REMEMBER THAT THERE WILL BE A TEST

So, let's start by the beginning, Liam Vickers, no hate against him obviously but he's pretty much the main driving force behind it so we'll have to discuss him sooner or later, while yes he has done animation before, two things stand out 1. He has always stuck to 2d stuff 2. His longest project : internection cube was not even a third of the length of murder drones, and so, you might already see where this is going !

As a quick aside, while i'm personally not in a good position to criticize due to like, not being able to draw at all, you gotta admit that having a team inexperienced with 3d stuff while making a 3d animated series can be a pretty worrying thing ! Fortunately, that's something that can be improved as time goes, and you definetly feel that the artists have gotting better at their job, sadly, the start was pretty rough and the backgrounds being barebones would be an understatement

Buuuuuuut, you know what is NOT easily fixable with field experience and working on improving what you've made? That's riiiiight, the plot ! and you bet that when an inexperienced animator (making scripts isn't even his main thing ffs !) has full control on where a series goes and flows, you're either gonna get a bad first draft or a lot of choices reconsidered and changes made

this is sorta spoiling what i'm gonna rant about but it's pretty much been admitted that most of the plot was written after the actual pilot and it's unironically the biggest mistake that still plagues murder drones to it's 6th episode (aka : as far as things have gotten for now, we're waiting on the finale with anticipation)

So yeah, here's what i'm gonna educate all of you about for the next couple of weeks

firstly, we'll talk about the pilot, like, really, let's make it clear that i really like murder drones, clearly a bit too much given i'm willing to kidnap 13 peoples just to have someone who listens to me, but the pilot? the pilot is the source of all my worries, the pilot hates me, and i hate the pilot and once i'm done you will too and i'm channelling all my rage in this statement ok?????

secondly, the plot doesn't switch all of a sudden without any explaination, but problem, you can't make an eldritch horror show when you spend the first 3 episodes setting up comedy, like, really, you're taking checkers pieces to a chess tournaments

finally i'll talk about how this show has betrayed all of it's secondary characters and how not having the budget to spend time with them can't explain everything, i miiiiight get distracted with how much i love them even in their 1 dimensional state but i swear i'll do my best

and when i can fit that you'll be offered some smaller but still as entertaining stuff : )

So, before we get into the actual complaining, i think a plot summary is in order? I dunno you tell me, maybe i have an audience of hardcore murderHEADS and this is superfluous but probably not

I mean, it's pretty simple, the setting is that we're on copper-9, an exoplante where people do mining stuff, and by people i mean antropomorphic robots, humans kinda get to supervize everything, but maybe they shouldn't actually cause they're dumb and stupid and made everything explode on accident, causing all humans but conviniently none of the robots to die

so, given they weren't fan of working for their whole lives without pay or anything, they chose to instead take the role of the humans and emulate how they lived before everything went boom

but, and i'm getting vague not out of a lack of care but because we actually have like zero details on all that, the big company the robots were working for (Jcjenson) kinda doesn't like this turns of events and decides that the best course of actions is to send more murder robots to kill the previous robots, as those were largely innofensive and unable to fight back (this is, once again, important later when i get to a later part)

buuuuuuuuut, the robots, like, the mining robots, they also weren't fans of being BRUTALLY MURDERED, therefore a brilliant guy (khan doorman, and also father of uzi doorman aka main character girl, this will not be important later this guy sucks and is just here to give uzi daddy issues that kinda never get resolved) has the idea of creating underground bunkers to hide from the murder drones and just survive like that basically, which works quite well apparently

and, yeah this is boring right? like, everyone is bored that's not me? I'll just be cutting it short to get to the essentials, uzi wants to actually fight back, she opens the doors to find scraps to finish building her weapon railgun (good) but also encounters murder drones, shenanegans ensue, wow they're buddies, now they're trying to figure out everything while Uzi slowly turns into a dissassembly drone for mysterious reasons (cool but also bad)

as for names since i don't really wanna introduce everyone 1 by 1, N / V / J are the original squad of murder drones uzi meets, Doll is a mysterious russian robot girl who kinda does her own thing and gets in the way of Uzi, Lizzy is basically irrelevant but i love her and she's an icon, Tessa is the only human and she was actually the one who created N / V / J / and someone else who only appears in flashbacks so like who cares amirite, basically she's important to the plot, and finally while not necessarily a character, the absolute solver is basically an eldritch cybervirus and is the thing that turns robots into murder drones (that sure feels out of place, i wonder if that has anything to do with what i'm about to complain about later)

wow, already on our 11th votecount? times sure flies when you're having fun !

another thing that happened with each episode and that kinda gets dropped later on is that basically episode 2/3/4 were each shamelessly inspired from popular horror subgenres, 2 is litterally "The Thing", 3 is high school horror or like, whatever name that kind of thing has been given and 4 is a slasher movie, and while it's honestly a pretty interesting way to go about things ! Only problem is that 1, this wasn't at all part of what one would expect when starting to watch this series, and 2, this makes each episode feel completely disconnected from the other, sure like, the plot goes fowards, but it's riddled with timeskips, the worst one i'll detail in the next flavor bit

like seriously, in episode 4 we get teased the idea of "Zombie drones", i sure wonder where this is going ! (nowhere, this is going nowhere why did they do this just to stop midway)

the soundtrack is *really* good, like, extremely, the only thing that is sad about it is that a lot of them actually work around the dialogue and get more calm when it happens, so it's a bit tough to listen to it individually

Since I wrote my reads out, Im thinking that it’s fairly unreasonable to do a gambit like that without a plan as mafia and she definitely didn’t have a plan

You seem to have been scumreading Hu Tao for most of this day since her reaction test, so it seems odd that all of a sudden as you're writing out your reads list you become confident she is town.

why would mafia!oats be inconsistent with HT now when he is facing pressure just before his death?

Could be a few reasons, such as:

- He doesn't want Hu tao to vote for him, so tries to placate her with a town read
- To make her look a bit worse, or at least muddy the waters in terms of associations, following an oats red flip
- Because he wants to pick his battles right now - he can always return to Hu Tao on another day if he survives this one.
